Donor Privacy Statement

Underground Railroad, Inc. believes in safeguarding personal information and ensuring that donor privacy is protected. We will use your personal information to keep you informed of our activities including our programs, special events and funding needs.  We respect all donor requests to remain anonymous.  We will always provide an “opt-out” procedure, for donors and others who receive such materials to request that their names be deleted from similar mailings, faxes or electronic communications in the future.

 

Personal Information

“Personal information” is information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number and email address.

We collect personal data through event registration, email subscription, online donation services, postal mail, phone and prospecting research. We only collect this information when users submit it voluntarily. If a user prefers not to submit such information online, they may contact URR to determine an appropriate channel to transmit this information.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

  • We will not sell, trade, or share your personal information, collected on the website or through any other business activities with anyone else.
  • We will not send you mailings on behalf of other organizations.
  • We will periodically publish a list of the names of donors on the URR website. Options for anonymous giving and “op-out” selections are available.
  • We will only share your personal information if you give us specific permission to do so.
  • We will collect payment information, billing address and other information to process a donation or event registration.
  • We will use your information to comply with the law or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the requirements of law.
  • We will use personal information to protect against potential fraud. We may verify with third parties the information collected in the course of processing a gift, event registration, or other donation. If you use a credit or debit card on the website, we may use card authorization and fraud screening services to verify that your card information and address matches the information that you supplied to us and that the card being used was not reported lost or stolen.

Except as described in this privacy policy or at the time we request the information, we do not otherwise disclose your personal information to any third parties.

Opt-out

At any time donors may “opt- out” or be removed from our mailing lists. URR will discontinue contact with any person upon oral or written request. Write: Underground Railroad, Inc., Attn: Development Director, 5647 State St., Suite A, Saginaw, MI or email us at ktesch@undergroundrailroadinc.org.

URR will maintain an electronic record in our database of all requests for discontinuance of contacts. Oral requests will be recorded in writing by URR staff and will then be permanently recorded in the electronic donor database.
