Reaching and Teaching Teens

Underground Railroad offers a four-six session evidence-based curriculum for grades 7-12. The presentations are available to classrooms and after-school programs.  Parental permission is encouraged for participation. Topics include:

  • The culture of violence
  • Sexual harassment
  • Healthy relationships
  • Dating violence
  • Technology and abuse
  • Sexual assault and consent
  • Risk reduction
  • Bystander intervention
  • Gender role stereotypes in media

Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month Toolkit

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. To address and prevent teen dating violence in schools, Underground Railroad offers a free toolkit that helps educators plan and implement their own Teen Dating Violence Awareness Campaign. The toolkit provides:

  • Templates of daily activities including school announcements, pledges, contests, display ideas, etc.
  • Sample posters
  • Lesson ideas for individual subjects
  • General information and statistics specific to the teen population
  • Prevention recommendation tips for teachers and students
